About This Blog

I'm Arthur Wiebe, a Bible believing born again believe it or not saved by the blood kind of young man who has a desire to live his life in integrity not slacking in what it important but what is not. Seeking the glory which is to come instead of the destruction which has already come.

Need you know much else? Well I like to work as well--especially working towards making technology work better for all of us.

26 February 2007 - 21:15Illumicore 0.1 Released

On Saturday I released Illumicore 0.1 to the public. It is almost what I wanted it to be. In some areas it has exceeded my expectations, but in the area of the articles manager and search via Zend_Search_Lucene, I’ve been disappointed.

We’re going to be using this release with slight customizations for our church web site, but once our site is deployed, I’ll begin version 0.2.

You can checkout the site for 0.1 information, but for 0.2 I’d like to outline a general plan.

  • Articles manager.
  • All bugs in search fixed.
  • Search date-ranges in audio.
  • Rewrite web audio playlist to be more flexible with file formats, and categories.
  • Unify database usage.
  • Upload audio files and add  to playlist simultaneously.
  • Modules. For example you can insert a special events block from a module into the home page.

Basically it will strive to be more flexible, and fix some annoying issues. So that’ll be all until our next release! :)
Meanwhile, be a light to the world! With spiritual lumens :)

16 February 2007 - 20:14The Mughrabi Ramp - The Real Story

I just discovered some articles the IAA has available. Of particular interest is the article about the Mughrabi Ramp.

There has been a lot of outcry especially by Muslims about these diggings nearby the Temple Mount recently.
The IAA has now 3 live 24/7 video streams of the area.

What I don’t understand is how the Israeli’s can be so nice to the Muslims after
they’ve spread so many lies and created so many problems for the Israeli’s. I suppose they might know they’ll win eventually despite what their neighbors do. Islam is without hope.

7 February 2007 - 20:38Colossians 2:14-16

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:”

I read a text which used these versus as proof that the ten commandments were “nailed to the cross.” And so I read it in context, and realized that’s not what the writer is trying to say at all. I was always confused by these versus as I couldn’t make sense of them, but here’s what’s been revealed to me.

For we who have receieved Jesus Christ the Lord, we are now complete in Him. Before we came to Chirst, we had certain charges against us. But they are now done away with by the power of the blood of Christ. Our uncircumcision was made circumcision (spiritually) by Jesus Christ as this verse says, (verse 11):

“In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:“

We are buried with Him in spiritual baptism, and  risen with Him “through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.”

“And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;” - Verse 13

God then removed these ordinances (charges) which were against us, “which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; 15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Through the blood of Christ we no longer have these sins against us but He triumphed over them and we are now free from them, and so free from the law!

2 February 2007 - 17:39Document of Experience: Deer Hitting

I figured I might as well document my first experience of hitting a deer with an automobile. In this case the deer fell into the ditch and was a DOA (Dead On Arrival).

How did it happen? Well I was driving along and out of the darkness two creatures jumped out over the road so I braked and as an effect, slowed down.
My first thought was whew! That was close. And then all of a sudden, another deer jumps out and I hit it, and another deer right after that which ended up right behind me.

I feel/hear/almost-see a thud so pull to the side, turn around and look for the deer and see the damage.
We find the deer lying in the ditch, apparently dead. The left headlight on the car is damaged and there is a nice dent on the side, causing a jam not allowing me to open the drivers side door. The bumper has a nice big crack in it and one smaller one. The left signal light is out of order, but that’s all the damage to me.

Disappointingly I have absolutely no insurance coverage for this kind of thing. I pay $304 a month and still not.
So we’ll see how easy it is to fix all this. Mainly the bumper, lights, and door.

No I didn’t take the deer home for some free meat. Fitting it into the trunk wasn’t feasible and simply wasn’t interested in spending the night cutting up a deer.

Passengers? My sister Nancy, Nick and Margaret Nuefeld.

Lessons learne? Slow down as much as possible when you see even just one deer, there’s probably a lot more coming. Maybe it’s time for a deer whistle or other animal warning system?
