I still really absolutely hate Internet Explorer. Even version 7, 8, they’re all the same. Broken pieces of trash.

And there’s so many better alternatives these days! Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome! Try them out if you haven’t yet!

  • New WordPress Plugin – PostByEmail

Posted on May 23rd, 2009 Arthur 3 comments

Over the last few days I’ve been working on a little wordpress plugin which had just been submitted to their web site, but I have already hosted on Google Code.

Postmaster sucks and WordPress built-in post via email has zero support for attachments. So I rewrote the script so it would support image, audio and video email attachments and automatically post them into wordpress.

Currently using it for one blog and it’s been working great!

  • What Is Computer Virtualization?

Posted on May 19th, 2009 Arthur No comments

I’ve always had a hard time explaining computer virtualization to people (mostly clients) who had no idea what I was talking about. Now this morning an idea came to me so I needed to write it down asap, so here it goes….

Computer virtualization is like a shopping mall. Instead of having each shop in it’s own building, all of the shops are inside of the same physical building, but still completely separated. There is a hallway to get from one shop to the other, which is how they can communicate with each other and all share the same resources.

That is what computer virtualization is like. You have one physical computer box, but more than one OS has the ability to run inside of it, completely separate, yet sharing the same resources.

  • One of the Reasons why Global Climate Change Models are All Wrong

Posted on May 16th, 2009 Arthur 1 comment

thermohaline_circulation_2xToday I noticed a post on Deap Sea News. Apparently according to new data the deap ocean conveyor belt theory/model is flawed to say the least.

This is one of the many reasons I’m not worried about climate change in the least bit. The Earth can take care of itself. Now I’m still a huge proponent of recycling and mitigating our waste, as one of our purposes on this earth is to tend to the land. But this nonsense of global climate change, is just that. Nonsense. Of course it’s going to change which it has over many years, but it’s not anything to be concerned about. The earth was created in a way that it could balance itself out.

  • Apple Support Is Awesome

They respect you when you have already diagnosed the issue yourself (even 1st level support) and just the process alone they use when transferring you to a specialist. Shows great professionalism.

  • When Technology Really Sucks!

Posted on May 7th, 2009 Arthur 3 comments

My Macbook Pro just decided to stop working. I won’t do into technical details but it came to the point where I dropped it off at Mac Outpost here in London.

Now normally the Mac Outpost guys are great! But I’m not sure what happened to them but they’ve had the laptop for over 24 hours without having even looked at it. This is not acceptable as the laptop is basically my hammer. My primary tool!

While I don’t want to spread bad things about these guys here in London Ontario at Mac Outpost, currently I’m really frustrated!

I expect computers to break-down, but it’s way too often that they do.

    UPDATE May 09
Apple is replacing the logic board for free even though it’s out of warranty. See this KB article for more info.
